RESULT ONE:
- Improved policy analysis as a basis for better informed policy-making and implementation ACTIVITIES involved in relation to Result 1
- Identify priority issues for research based on agreed criteria: Criteria are defined by the Programme Steering Committee taking into account requirements derived from the policy agenda.
- Selection of proposals based on evaluation criteria: Selection is done by means of calls for proposals according to agreed procedures. Selection is based on published evaluation criteria.
- Research is undertaken and monitored: Research projects deliver results that serve as input to policy making. Results are widely discussed. Impact and ‘lessons learnt’ are documented for each project.
RESULT TWO:
- Capacity of research institutions strengthened: incentives for joint research between established and emerging institutions, thereby promoting transfer of knowledge and skills. ACTIVITIES involved in relation with Result 2
- Collaborative research initiatives are encouraged. Twinning and collaboration between entrenched and emerging institutions is encouraged (both domestically and internationally). Collaboration will promote knowledge transfer.
- Debates and exchanges among researchers, and between researchers, policy makers and civil society organisations facilitated. These exchanges are expected to enrich the discussion and the knowledge base.
- A database of research institutions working on conflict and governance issues is established and maintained.
- Participation in key note conferences/seminars and workshops around research, grant making and policy context achieved.
RESULT THREE:
- Policy debate strengthened. Participation in policy debate is enlarged. Quality of discussions and dialogue enriched. ACTIVITIES involved in relation with Result 3
- Results are widely disseminated by means of publications, workshops and media coverage. New discussion fora are created where necessary, to bring together researchers, policy makers and civil society representatives.
